Lecturers’ Perception of the Use of Social Media for English Language Teaching

The purpose of this study was to see how English lecturers’ perceptions the use social media for Language teaching. This is limited 4 aspects (Activities, Motivation, Enhancing students’ skills, and effectiveness). research conducted at Department a university in Surabaya using teaching by lecturers. case design semi-structured interview, organizing, interpreting, representing data. A total 8 lecturers have participated be interviewed know about their perception on Teaching. results showed that most primarily used are WhatsApp Email. result interviews four had been determined. They are; 1). Activities when English; discussion, communication, sharing subjects’ materials, collecting an assignment, giving assignments. 2). Social can increase students motivation; improving learning motivation, active, creative, increasing self-confidence, interesting. 3). enhance skills; enhancing speaking skill, writing pronunciation, vocabulary. 4). effectiveness easy access, understand, use, practiced.
